Gearing up for the Christmas Markets. Going to try making a few different items this season. Like these spoon rests. Feeling very excited about getting into the @millarvillemarket this year. @medalta has accepted me into their Christmas market again too. The Cassils Hall market will be happening again as well… Dec 5th & 6th…I am currently accepting vendors. No more room for food vendors though. Also Im trying to keep it handmade as much as possible. That does not include diamond art 😆 Ill make another post about this on Facebook.

The gas kiln is forcing me to try some new things. A few of the glazes look the same or similar but many of them are behaving differently. Forcing me to get creative with my glazing, which hasn’t happened for a bit. Now that Im 4 glaze firings in and starting to see some consistent results with this firing method, there will be more experiments going on.

Lighting the gas kiln to start it up will always be exciting for me. 🔥 Ive been running it similar to my electric firing schedule. Slow heat until 200-300 F then a hold there if I suspect any moisture is left in the pots or glazes. After that we go up fairly quickly (300-400F per hour) to about 1600F or so then it’s about 100F per hour till it reaches 1800F for bisque or 2185 F for glaze. For glaze Im trying to dial in the hold or soak at the top temp and then a slow cool down to 1800ish. Also realized that reduction firing is not to be played with at this time. 😂 gonna need more research, different glazes and maybe an oxygen sensor to mess around with that.

Been on an old country kick lately… anyways, another note in collaring, if theres a place on the pot thats thinner than the rest of the pot, collaring may cause a twist there. If the piece you’re making is getting water logged or over worked or quite wide…you will likely have a wreck attempting to collar it in. Happy Potting!

Last Fridays class was game to try musical wheels (switching chairs every 30 seconds or so)for the last 5 minutes of class 😆 and boy did we ever have fun with that.
FYI there is space in the upcoming Friday classes and alternate projects are available if the wheel is not your jam

Ok guys… As of January 10th. ❄️Ive got plenty of daytime lessons spots available. Also Monday and Friday afternoon/evenings. Quite a few Saturday and Sunday times too.

My basement studio fits up to 6 people very comfortably. A minimum of 4 people is required to book an evening or weekend. I will take bookings for lessons for 2-3 people during the weekdays though.

Im trying to get 4-6 kids together for a 4 week program on Mondays. Message me if interested.
